Does treatment work?

I have a 15 yr. old son that has been placed on youth probation for marijuana use. His probation officer asked that I have him evaluated for dependency, and the results are that out-patient treatment is recommended. I don't know what to expect, and if this will even work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
