And what About Living In The Future?

And what About Living In The Future?

In early recovery from addiction we sometimes feel we get conflicting advice on how to approach our future. From day one we are admonished to “live in the moment” and “take it one day at a time”. Yet if w...e adopt and use the spiritual principles we are given in recovery what we discover over time is that the future is not something to be wished for or feared but rather it is more an act of “moving forward without expectations or anxiety.

And if we go forward, “as living life and life’s term” offers us, we will profit the most if we never look around or over our shoulder to see if anyone is watching. Because learning to be satisfied with even the smallest amount of our own progress and to realize that even this smallest result is no trifle, moves us immeasurably forward in our spirituality and recovery.

There is no finer sensation in life than that which comes with victory over one's self. So just keep moving forward to that goal of inward achievement, brushing aside all your old internal enemies as you advance - to where freedom from our selves awaits.

Just Keep On Keeping On.
