Getting ready to detach with love

To my son:

I will always love you no matter what you decide to do with your life-whether you're graced enough to have a wonderful loving family of your own or living on the streets, whether you're successful or in jail, whether you're sober or using. I will always love you but I may not always be able to be a part of your life as it is just too painful. Your dad, your sister, and I need to move on and take care of ourselves. I hope that someday, when you are truly ready to commit to sobriety, we can be a part of your life once more.
